Anzac Day 2025

Last updated
Friday, 11/04/2025

On 25 April, Anzac Day services will be held in major cities and at international war memorials. If you're travelling to attend a service, understand the risks and plan ahead.

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) manages the Anzac Day Dawn Services at memorial sites in:

  • Gallipoli, Türkiye
  • Villers-Bretonneux, France

DVA has information on the venue and time for each service

Smaller services are held at other memorial sites.

Exercise a high degree of caution in Türkiye and France due to the threat of terrorism. Follow the instructions of security personnel. They're there to keep you and others safe. There’ll be security screening when entering the memorial sites. Security will take any banned items off you. You can find a list of banned items in the site conditions of entry.

Research the local laws and customs of your destination. Know the behaviour that's expected around important events. Always be respectful, no matter how you're marking the day.

Local health authorities give limited medical support at the memorial sites. They’re equipped for emergencies, not to treat minor ailments. There are few facilities for people with disabilities or limited mobility. Find out if local facilities will meet your needs.

Anzac Day Dawn Services are held outdoors. The weather can be variable. You'll be exposed to the elements as there's no permanent shelter. Bring clothing that suits the climate where you're going.

Know how you'll get to service locations.

  • There's no public transport to the Gallipoli Peninsula National Park in Türkiye.
  • Local tourism shuttles may be available from Amiens to Villers-Bretonneux, France.

Before you travel
