We are committed to providing information and services to the widest possible audience. Smartraveller is for all Australians, regardless of ability, technology or platforms.

Web standards

Our website has received independent accessibility testing and was assessed as being at a conformance level of Level AA in relation to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 as of 1 November 2019.

We also aim to meet the Digital Transformation Agency's requirements for government websites.

Exceptions

Accessibility is a priority for us. However, we can't control the accessibility of content outside our domain. This includes websites we link to.

We recognise that some of our content is not as accessible as it could be. Meeting accessibility guidelines is an ongoing process. We keep working to improve it.

PDFs

Some material on our website is provided in Portable Document Format (PDF). To view or print a PDF you will need to have a PDF reader installed.

We understand that some users may still find accessing PDF files difficult. We have, where possible, taken steps to ensure that alternative formats are available.

How to use the ‘listen to this page’ function

The listen function allows the text on the website to be read out loud to you. It provides assistance if you have trouble reading text online.

Telephone interpreters

The Department of Home Affairs provides translating and interpreting services.

This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is accessible from anywhere in Australia for the cost of a local call on 131 450.
